Witold Riedel - Marks of Life

Witold Riedel (b. 1969) is a Polish-born, German multidisciplinary artist living and working in Lisbon. His practice explores the profound interconnectedness of all things, moving fluidly across drawing, photography, and ceramics.

Riedel’s work is a meditation on the origins of existence, linking ancient ritual with contemporary consciousness. Through an examination of the flows of energy and matter between humans, nature, and the cosmically divine, he seeks to dissolve perceived boundaries: material and spirit, self and world, technology and nature.

Central to Riedel’s practice is the selection of personally significant materials. He works with inks derived from pollution, clays gathered from specific sites, and photography as both document and data. Process becomes ritual; matter becomes transformation. From observing the journey of particles to digitally reimagining the world through thousands of photographic fragments, his works invite viewers to reconsider their place within existence’s unfolding narrative.
