The Circle is Swan Hill Studios' creative membership community, a gathering place for artists, makers, designers, writers, illustrators, curators, collectors, and anyone with a deep love of culture and the arts.

At its heart, The Circle is built on three simple values: collaboration, generosity, and shared curiosity. It's a space to connect with like-minded people, exchange ideas, develop your practice, and find your people. We believe creativity thrives in community.

 

Whether you're an established practitioner, building something new, or simply looking to immerse yourself in a vibrant and supportive creative world, there's a place for you here. The only thing we ask is that you leave your ego at the door.

 

What Being a Member Looks Like

As part of The Circle, you'll be invited to member-only gatherings throughout the year. You'll have opportunities to take part in workshops, talks, screenings, and collaborations, as well as chances to exhibit, share work, and test new ideas in a generous and encouraging environment. You'll also become part of a diverse and growing network of artists, designers, makers, writers, and cultural thinkers, people who are as invested in your creative journey as their own.

 

Our Residency Programme

Each summer, we invite a number of artists to take part in our residency programme at Swan Hill Studios. Every resident is given use of our painting room and a full week to dedicate entirely to their own practice, whether that means making, creating an open studio, or putting on a small exhibition. The residency is completely free of charge, apart from we ask the artists to contribute to our postal subscription club.

 

Joining The Circle

Becoming a member is intentionally simple. There's a one-off £6 administration fee and no ongoing costs — because we want The Circle to remain open, inclusive, and accessible to as many people as possible. More members means more connection, more collaboration, and more creativity for everyone.
